Lovers of Grey Muzzles We are especially passionate about senior pet health. This is the level of care that your senior pet deserves. Because the golden years should be the best ones yet.

More life. More love. More memories. The Family Veterinary Care of Oakdale team loves senior pets and is passionate about senior pet care! We believe the pet owner-pet bond only grows stronger with age, and we want to honor that relationship. Our veterinarians help senior pets live longer and better lives through preventive care, early disease detection, and proactive disease management.

Older pets are more likely to develop diseases, and we therefore recommend biannual senior wellness visits. If we detect a problem, we can start treatment before the issue snowballs and is less responsive to standard therapies. Early treatment can slow progression of common senior pet diseases such as kidney disease, endocrine disorders, and dental health problems, and add healthy years to your pet’s life. Senior wellness services We recommend that senior pets visit our office for routine care at least twice yearly, because seniors not only age faster than younger pets, but their health status also can change quickly. At least once per year, we also recommend blood and urine testing to help us track results and look for early disease signs. Additionally, we focus on providing the same preventive care services your pet needed in their younger years. During senior wellness visits, we evaluate your pet’s weight, discuss their changing nutritional needs, administer vaccine boosters, and prescribe parasite control that works for their lifestyle.
