Externships are an excellent way to acquire hands-on training, explore your interests, and gain comfort and confidence in a clinical setting. To provide the greatest learning experience, our veterinarians will work with you to determine and accommodate your learning goals, needs, and preferences. Whether you’re with us for an entire summer or only a few weeks, our personalized approach allows us to make the most of our time together.

As an FVCO extern, you won’t be on the sidelines—you’ll be part of the family! From the moment you arrive, you’ll learn from and work alongside our accomplished veterinarians—who bring more than 40 years of combined clinical experience and specialty certification—as they care for pets, educate clients, and help you apply your learning to real cases.
Scheduling
Although summer is the most popular season for externships, we can often accommodate other dates and time frames—simply contact us with your request. Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years or those on official externship rotation blocks.
